Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has said Spurs are not close to spending £100m on a single player, unlike rivals Arsenal, who signed Declan Rice for £105m in 2023.
Following recent leadership changes at the club and new investment from the Lewis family, Spurs are aiming to grow both on and off the pitch. However, Frank believes success will come more from smart recruitment and player development than record-breaking transfers. Tottenham’s current club-record signing remains Richarlison at £60m.
Frank said he does not see Spurs making a £100m signing anytime soon, stressing the importance of time, process, and careful investment. He added that developing existing players is just as important as buying costly stars, pointing out that clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City did not rely solely on ultra-expensive signings to reach the top.
Despite this, Spurs have recently received £100m in funding and could receive more, giving Frank optimism about future backing from the board. He said the owners are committed to long-term success and believes the club will be supported in building a competitive team.
