Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been revealed as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent in north London.
The incident occurred on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police were called after the suspect reportedly brandished a firearm and made threats of violence and blackmail.
The 31-year-old suspect, who is not Udogie’s agent, was arrested two days later on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
Tottenham said they have been supporting Udogie and his family since the incident but declined further comment due to the ongoing legal process.
Despite the ordeal, Udogie returned to action a week later, coming off the bench in Spurs’ league win over West Ham, and started Tuesday’s Champions League match against Copenhagen.
Police confirmed no injuries were reported in either incident and that inquiries remain ongoing.
