Plans to stage a Serie A match in Australia have been abandoned after late complications.
The fixture between AC Milan and Como was due to be played in Perth on 8 February.
It would have been the first major European domestic league game held outside its home country.
However, financial risks and conditions imposed by the Asian Football Confederation proved decisive.
Serie A president Ezio Simonelli said “unacceptable requests” made the match impossible to stage.
Those demands involved match officials and responsibilities placed on Australian authorities.
The game had been moved because San Siro is unavailable during the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
Serie A also viewed the match as a chance to promote its brand internationally.
The cancellation follows a similar reversal by La Liga.
La Liga recently scrapped plans for Barcelona to face Villarreal in Miami.
