NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance will strengthen Ukraine’s army and secure US and European commitments to deter Russian aggression. He confirmed NATO’s support “remains unwavering” and “continues to grow.”

Rutte announced additional NATO funding will ensure a steady flow of lethal US weapons. He said the United States confirmed participation in security guarantees during a White House meeting.

Rutte emphasized Ukraine, Europe, and the US are coordinating to make guarantees strong enough to prevent any Russian attacks. Discussions on foreign troop deployments, intelligence contributions, and naval or air support are ongoing, he said.

    Zelenskyy Demands Reliable Protection

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine needs guarantees so future generations live safely free from Russian threats. He stressed the guarantees must protect citizens and deter aggressors.

Zelenskyy said it is too early to determine which countries will provide troops or intelligence. He insisted Ukraine will cooperate fully and professionally with allies to secure these protections.

    Kremlin Resists Direct Talks

After Trump met Putin in Alaska and then met Zelenskyy with European leaders, plans for a summit emerged. Moscow repeatedly rejected a meeting.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, “Putin will meet Zelenskyy when the agenda is ready,” confirming no summit is scheduled.

At a joint Kyiv press conference, Zelenskyy accused Moscow of blocking leadership talks. He demanded stronger sanctions to force Russia into diplomacy. “Everything must be done so Russia cannot avoid a meeting,” Zelenskyy said, urging partners to ensure productive negotiations.
